A Message to the SHECP Community

Dear SHECP Community,

As we approach the end of our SHECP 2020 Summer Internship Program, we invite you to join us for the 2020 Frueauff Closing Conference this Friday, July 31, 2020 – in a virtual format.

The conference includes a keynote address, brainstorming meetings that are open to all, student collaborations, mentor-student interactive sessions, and professional practitioner discussions. We hope that you can join us for one or more of the sessions. For a complete schedule and to register, see the detailed message from our Academic Director, Dr. Stephanie Rolph.

In particular, we invite you to hear the closing keynote address by Dr. Scott W. Allard at 11:00 am EDT. Scott is the author of Places in Need: The Changing Geography of Poverty and has led several discussions this summer with students and others.

At 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm EDT, we will spend time reviewing this summer’s internship program and brainstorming how we will capitalize on our new virtual internship format. While we fully expect to return to in-person internships in the future, the success of our virtual format this summer means that SHECP now has another way to deliver academic instruction, mentoring assistance, and service to community partners. Our discussions will also include a review of our new three-year strategic plan highlights and process.

We are truly grateful for your participation in the SHECP community and for your support of our work.  If you have any questions, contact our Academic Director, Dr. Stephanie Rolph, at rolphsc@shepherdconsortium.org. You may also email me at jim.langford@shepherdconsortium.org.

Sincerely,

Jim Langford, Executive Director – SHECP
