The first-ever SHECP Summit seeks to initiate and support conversations across locations, expertise, and experiences related to poverty and the diverse approaches necessary to its elimination.

While scholars are crucial to our knowledge and dissemination of information about this, Summit 2020 will sponsor academic contributions as only one component of a much broader coalition of practitioners, nonprofit leaders, community activists, elected officials, and countless other stakeholders—all of whom are making daily contributions to reducing poverty.

SHECP intern Margaux Curless, Centre College, reports on her work at the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO).

Primary to this discussion is recognizing the ongoing partnership with individuals who experience poverty, not as a topic of study or a professional pursuit but as a daily, lived reality. We are currently accepting proposals for papers, panels, workshops and posters. Please save the date and visit this page regularly for Summit 2020 updates!
