The 2025 SHECP Annual Conference will be held August 1 – 2 on the campus of Marymount University in Arlington, VA. The two-day event will be co-hosted by Marymount University’s Center for Professional Ethics. This programming is designed to place the individual experiences of the SHECP interns into broader anti-poverty policy, research and organizational efforts, and to situate it within their undergraduate education. The conference also provides professional development opportunities for the staff and faculty of member institutions and community partners.

"We are delighted for the privilege of co-hosting the 2025 SHECP Annual Conference," Lester A. Myers, Founding Director of Marymount's Center for Professional Ethics, shared. "SHECP has been a leading voice for many years for convening and fostering the leadership of university students in the study of poverty as a complex social problem, and we are proud of our affiliation with the consortium." Myers adds his excitement for the role of "impactful dialogue among members’ students, educators and others," during the conference, as we delve into "the importance of drawing on human narratives, personal accompaniment and encounter, and social analysis regarding the structures and systems that can limit or lift up those in these vulnerable constituencies."
Friday's events, including the SHECP Council meeting and welcome dinner, will be limited to current SHECP interns and representatives from SHECP Member Schools. Saturday's events, including speaker sessions and reflection panels will be open to the wider community. In the coming months, we will provide additional details regarding accommodations, single-day registration, and the full event schedule.
The 2025 SHECP Annual Conference is made possible by the generous support of the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation.
